Firefly Named as One of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2019
Firefly is incredibly honored to be recognized as one of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2019!
Each year TIME selects software, products and services that solve compelling problems in creative ways. We are thrilled to be named alongside some of the most innovative companies in the world. Best Invention companies from past years have included Tesla, NASA, Facebook, Allbirds, Bose, Apple, Adidas, and many more.
Onur and I founded the company with a mission to improve cities; our street-level digital media network offers brands value while elevating drivers and empowering urban communities. Working directly with drivers, our innovative displays are securely installed on their rideshare vehicles and taxis and serve as geo-targeted, programmable out-of-home (OOH) advertising screens. As a result, the average Firefly driver-partner generates an additional $250-300 per month in cash flow, adding up to 15% more earnings for the same drive time.
Firefly is proud of our commitment to dedicate at least 10% of our ad space to community organizations, nonprofits, and social causes through our City Partners program, through which we highlight resources for homeless, emergency response and awareness, making streets safer, and other important issues at no cost to our City Partners. We also participate in the AMBER Alert system, broadcasting an active alert on all the displays in the geographic area of the alert.
The Firefly team designed our newest Sunrise display with communities in mind, integrating the capacity for temperature gauges, accelerometers and air quality sensors to help provide insights into municipal concerns like congestion and road safety. We believe the data about environmental conditions generated from these displays will enable dynamic partnerships with local governments while providing information to make more informed decisions about municipal policy.
